Let It Ride

Let it ride on double zero, I’m feeling lucky tonight
Set aside our broken heroes, it’s just you and me in flight
Tape the canvas to the cold floor, spread the paint upon our clothes
Move around on it together and just see what we can roll

Could be a picture of the future, could be traces of the past
Could be riches down from heaven, could be losses coming fast
Got an invite to a party, strangers passing in the night
Didn’t trust that it was honest, didn’t think that it was right

Paint your face and dress for dancing, like we’re in grade school once again
Sometimes an unexpected pleasure rears its pretty little head

Let us rock all of our senses in this delightful little town
Let us not take it all for granted, let us hold the whole world closer
Let us wake the morning after, take our breath both deep and strong

Let it ride on double zero, I’m feeling lucky tonight
What are the odds that I would be here, all lit up by candlelight
Asked the gods if they would see us, into the early morning light
Dodged a bullet, tempted fate, but we both got out all right.

Paint your face and dress for dancing, like we’re in grade school once again
Sometimes an unexpected pleasure rears its pretty little head
