Nothing but the Truth

Sometimes I think that I should tell you nothing but the truth
Sometimes I think that I need to keep some secrets hid from you
Sometimes I wonder what you are telling me with those songs
Sometimes I think you’re saying it might be time to move along

Played with you this morning but I forgot my damn guitar
Lay with you last night when you forgot to bring your car
Met you in the bright of day and touched your pretty face
Talked about exactly what it takes to fall from grace

Keep losing my balance on the side of this hill
Got to climb back to the top or roll on down
Keep losing my chance to pull the brakes against the wheel
Know the words but cannot make a sound

One time you held on to me like an asp to Cleo’s breast
One time you held me close to your knit Alpaca chest
This time you leaned against me and asked me something sweet
This time I got to sit and watch you slip into the sheets

It’s been known in certain circles I have a tendency to feel
Every little thing that I believe is true and real
This dance we make together moves like a galaxy of swirls
Paint the sky with blues and whites reflecting this here world

Keep losing my balance on the side of this hill
Got to climb back to the top or roll on down
Keep losing my chance to pull the brakes against the wheel
Know the words but cannot make a sound
