Slipped

She slipped her dress off
Stepped into the light
Slipped out of the light
Stepped into the night

Her pale skin glowed
Like a warm soft candle light
The bright moon slowed
To take in such a sight

She’s my fortune telling lady
She knows something about my past
She don’t tell me about the future
But I don’t know if that will last

Fall into a deep dream
Sweet soft strong hands
I like to lay upon her table
It’s like sleeping on warm sand

When there isn’t any past
And there’s no future foreseen
All that is left is this one moment
And every moment in between

And the moment slips to moment
Slips to sun come up this morning
Drips like honey in the warming
Smells like coffee in the cup

And the moment slips to movement
Slips our fingers into soothing
Drips like wax from off the candle
Purrs like cats just waking up

She’s my fortune telling lady
She knows all about my past
She don’t tell me about the future
But I don’t know if that will last

She’s my fortune telling lady
Remembers nothing about what’s passed
We don’t need to know the future
As it tumbles into past
