Spring Shadows Play

The dirt is in a mound, the people stand around
Waiting all day long to see a shadow
The tree is sprouting leaves, a child is asking please
Take me to a place without a school bell

Spring has come, dew on the lawn
Winter’s dying down, a new life all around
Spring is here, sweet and clear
Green peeks from the earth, the signs of a rebirth

The sun is peeking out, a man begins to shout
There’s never any rain in California!
The wind blows from the south, the woman takes a bow
No one ever leaves without a warning

Spring scent green, breezes shaking free
The days are getting long, roots are growing strong
Spring magnolia sprays, nighttime shadows play
A sparkle in your eyes, we’ll say our last goodbye

So help me if you please, I’m dropping to my knees
Say a little prayer into the morning
The seasons dance and sway, the woman drifts away
The sun is always here to keep us warmin’

Spring fills the air, its fingers everywhere
Winter’s dying out, sing it nice and loud
Spring stretched and prone, together and alone
Green peeks from the earth, the signs of a rebirth
