Two or Three Words

They hit me in the face like a slap from your bare hand
Nobody was here to see the blood rush from my skin
Thought that for a moment I would never breathe again
Only wished I didn’t know that this was coming

Two or three words turned the blue sky into darkness
Two or three words pushed the rest of my life spinning backwards
Two or three words was like a call to the executioner
All but being strung up ’til I get a word from her

I know things that I don’t know and I don’t know things I should
Been crying like a kitten begging for some food
A rattle in my chest every time I try to breathe
And the roses all lay dead around my feet

It’s easy to imagine that everything is endless
There is never any chance that the picture lives forever
There’s a hole right where my stomach was and it feels a little tender
While the chill wind is ripping at my face

The pieces of the puzzle that we were playing on the table
Are scattered and are broken and I seem to be unable
To find my way to find them or find my way to let them all go
Still wanting everything that I ever thought was possible

Two or three words turned the blue sky into darkness
Two or three words pushed the rest of my life spinning backwards
Two or three words was like a call to the executioner
All but being strung up ’til I get a word from her
Roll me through the leaves and let me fall
Let the crows come blind me in the hall
Don’t want to look at nothing here at all
