Water Into Stone

Last time I saw Judas, he told me not to bother
He had given all his answers, was forsaken by his brother
He has told all of his stories, none of us were listening
We had turned him into mud, we had turned ourselves against him
Looking for the water turned to stone
Water turned to stone

There were times that I could see him, before the darkness came to meet me
I sank into the swamp, pushed through the reeds and
Awoke, I was alone upon the shore and facing leeward
The storm revealed the sun until my face was all but fevered
Thirsty for the water turned to stone
Water turned to stone

Lightning is the string between the earth stretched to the ether
Flies down like a bat sings and is gone before you need it
I am reaching out my hand to catch a tendril of the flicker
This road is paved with brambles, black vines bloom scarlet flowers
Who shall drink the water turned to stone
Water turned to stone

Last time I saw Jesus, he told me not to bother
He had given all his answers, was forsaken by his father
He has told all of his stories, none of us were listening
We had turned him into god, we had turned ourselves against him
Now he turns all of our water into stone
Water into stone
